Google launched their much talked about new “social media” program, Google Buzz, today. It integrates into your Gmail account, for those of us who use Gmail.
So how does it compare with Twitter?
Google’s blog answers, “Our belief is that organizing the social information on the web — finding relevance in the noise — has become a large-scale challenge, one that Google’s experience in organizing information can help solve. We’ve recently launched innovations like real-time search and Social Search, and today we’re taking another big step with the introduction of a new product, Google Buzz.”
Google Buzz should be on everyone’s Gmail account by end of the week, Google says. They’ve also created a new mobile app (Google Buzz) that “gives mobile devices an important component to sharing: location. Posts tagged with geographical information have an extra dimension of context — the answer to the question “where were you when you shared this,” states their blog.
So what do you think? Is this the new Twitter? Will this make your social networking experience better or is it just one more Google item that you have to deal with? Leave your thoughts in the comments below
